3:36 pm - Scoot de Shoop

tigra_aurora
Goodness me it's been a while.

Anyway I'm bored and I thought I'd post in here.

I just had a mosy around TS - haven't posted there in ages, don't plan to start now but it's amazing how it's grown.

Glad to see my Sex Questions sticky is still up.

Is anyone alive in here? :-)

1:38 pm - Bye.

toxicstarshine
I left teenspot and Aaron deleted my goodbye post and demodded me. I'm not sure if anyone ever looks at this, but here it is.

I didn't anticipate doing this so soon...
... but goodbye.

I've fallen out of love with teenspot the last few days. No offense to NT or anything, but this place is pretty much neonteen with a different name now. I didn't sign up for NT for a reason, but it seems that it ended up happening. I know a vast majority of you really couldn't give a damn, but I know a few of you do.

I spent a good two years with this board, avoided a lot of homework, and wasted a lot of time. To most of you, I'm glad I had the opportunity to talk to you.

I'm not saying I won't be back, because there's a pretty good chance that I will be*, which is why I hope not to be demodded. Until then, however, this is goodbye.

If you have the urge to contact me:

Take care.

Yeah, just thought I'd share that since some might have missed it.

2:38 pm - Resignation

tigra_aurora

I posted this today. I'm not making an I'm leaving thread in the main forums, because I saw what happened to Catherine's one just before Aaron proceeded to demod her, insulting her in the process - I have major issues with that (and the fact that Frankie hasn't been made a mod again), but I'm not going to post them over the boards. So yer. I'm leaving TS. Or at least I'm stepping down as a mod with a view not to post very much anymore. I'll miss you guys heaps, but it's just something I need to do.

"Before I get the "you haven't even given it a chance" lecture this is not a "I hate new TS I'm leaving" thread.

This is just me saying thanks, it's been great being a mod, but I feel I need to step down.

I need to buckle down and start working hard on my Uni course, meaning some things are going to have to take a back seat in my life. TS being one of them. Therefore I don't feel I'm going to have time to Mod here anymore. I've been thinking about this for a while, so it's not just a rash decision that's come out of the blue to coincide with New TS.

I'll still update the TS salutes thread, but I think I've grown out of TS, and I need to move onwards and upwards. It's been a great 3 years, I've loved every minute of it.

I wish you all the best for New TS, I'm sure it won't be long before everyone settles into this new fantastic new community and I'm grateful to have been part of this huge step in "message board history" lol.

Sorry I haven't had a chance to get to know the NT mods etc, but like I said I really have been considering this for a while, my recent exam results being a bit of a catalyst to this decision. Good luck to all of you."

I'll be at
WABTY if anyone needs me.

Keep in touch yo

Well the merge on TS just happened.

And the server's down already. For me at least.

I swear it wasn't me.

I miss my bunny... I love my cute lil bunny...

Hoping to get my avatar online soon... Ack I don't think I can really post much today... My first thread had 30 replies in about 10 minutes... *blinks*

Us lame TSers arenae used to you fast pace NTers!

Think it's gonna be good though, merging of 2 communities is always exciting.

Big up the New TS.

9:25 am - It's officially coming!

tigra_aurora
After a long wait by all of us, Mike's finally announced the arrival of "New TS".

"
It is finally here. The new TeenSpot.com will be hitting the web a week from today: January 26, 2005.

The obvious question on everyone's mind is: What will be different? I will try and explain, in as much detail as I can, what will be different about this new change that I, and a handful of other people, have been working on for the past year and two months. (Thanks for bearing with us this past year -- we thought it would be sooner.) I also understand that a lot of you may have other questions and some major concerns about this new change. That is why I am going to try and explain to you why this new change will ultimately be better.

I'm not going to bore you with technical information like I had planned, but let me just tell you that one of the first things we did was purchase two brand new dual processor/SCSI servers and place them on multiple brand new premium internet connections. This means that the new site is going to be incredibly fast and stable. We should not have any problems with servers overloading as we occasionally do now.

One of the best ideas we had for the new site was making it possible for people to only have to register once and be able to use all features of the site. This will be possible, and it will make it extremely easy for us to add features (such as journals, photo galleries, etc. Suggestions?) in the future. The registration form for this is very simple to fill out too. We are trying to make things flow as smoothly as possible. Along with our global user registration script comes a very, very detailed backend of the site that, to be honest, you will never see. You probably don't even know what I am talking about and that is alright. I am just initially telling about everything that we have been working on so there will be no one in doubt.

The biggest change that everyone WILL notice is the new website design. We have spent plenty of money and worked plenty of man hours to make sure that our website looks as attractive as its new backend feels. The website is gorgeous. It contains many new features which I am not going to expose here. I do not want to give away everything. :) I will say, though, that the site is completely integrated. For instance, the message boards are not off in their own little world anymore. They are apart of TeenSpot.com. You guys will be members of TeenSpot.com.

I would also like to introduce someone I've known and worked with for years. Meet Aaron, owner of neonteen.com for those who use both forums. Aaron is a very nice guy who will be coming on board and operating TeenSpot.com with us. Aaron and I will co-own and co-operate TeenSpot.com from the launch forward. Both of us always forsaw this event was down the road at some point and have been pondering it for years.

Specifically speaking of the message boards... they have been upgraded to the latest version of our bulletin board software. This software comes with many new features of its own, but once again, you will just have to explore them for yourself. The neonteen.com/boards and teenspot.com/boards databases will be merged. We are going to save EVERY SINGLE post that you guys and the members at Neonteen.com have made. We will have about a total of 3,300,000 posts after they are combined. Because of our new integration systems (and other reasons such as nickname conflicts, etc.) you WILL have to "re-register". I mentioned that before, but I wanted to set it straight. This means that you will not have your post counts. Some people find this a big deal, but if you think about it: They are only numbers. Another great feature to our global database is that you will NEVER have to register again. We will NEVER, no matter what happens in the future, ask you to re-register.

On to the chat rooms.. the chat rooms will have a totally new look and feel to them. We have moved from the aging Java plugin and are now using Flash. (Did you know 98.78% of computers have flash plugin?) Chat rooms will be much quicker and will have space for more users without getting bogged down by slowness. We have also added a few new rooms and removed a few not-so-popular rooms. Lastly about the chat rooms is the additional features, you now have the ability to talk in just about any color imaginable, use an avatar, use bold, underline and italics -- and more! I know you will enjoy it.

A very good question was raised when we were mapping out everything. The question was concerned with people stealing other member's nicknames on registration day and "what if 'so and so' is not around to register", etc. We have a solution for these problems. We have created something called "Reserve IDs". Reserve IDs work as follows:

If you would like to reserve your nickname for when the new site launches, you will simply email us a few details about your current user account, we will send you back a reserve ID, and then when you are able to officially register, you will just use your reserve ID to 'unlock' your nickname.

To get a reserve ID, please email reserve@teenspot.biz with the following information:

1. The nickname you want reserved. (Current nicknames will take priority over new names. Nicknames cannot contain spaces or have crazy characters in them.)
2. The current password of nickname as of January 19, 2004 . (This is to verify that the nickname is yours to reserve in the first place.)
3. Your email address.

Another note I would like to point out: Nickname changes will most likely not be allowed when the new TeenSpot.com is launched. It will be impossible for us to grant you them in the near future, even if we wanted to, so while registering please choose a nickname that you will be able to use for as long as you are a member.

Now, I know that a lot of questions are still unanswered. The fact of the matter is that right now that is the only important information that I can think of that needs to be publicly announced. If you have ANY questions AT ALL, please post your questions in this thread and I will answer each one personally and try to do my best to explain it in a way that will make you feel comfortable about this change.

I would also like to say that this project has been completely thought through. Aaron or I did not make this decision over night. I know how TeenSpot.com is right now and I promise it will be much different. The new TeenSpot.com will impress you, I promise. I also know some of you think that the only reason this is all happening is because we want to make more money and become a huge website. What is my reply? My reply is: Ofcourse, It doesn't make sense to have a company and not be profitable. I have never lied about anything relating to this website and I do not plan on it. Our goal is to become huge. Being huge does not mean that we can't still be a close-knit community. All I ask is that you guys give it a try. If you don't like the new website or if it just isn't for you, like I have always, always, ALWAYS said: No one is forcing you to be here. Please don't ruin the experience for everyone else. I am confident that this move is the best for EVERYONE.

So, as reminders:

1. This is going to happen early morning, January 26, 2005 . There is no exact time set because all of your Internet Service Providers will update their domain name servers at different times.

2. Get a reserve ID if you are worried about losing your nickname.

3. If you have any questions at all, please ask them now. We have no secrets.

Thank you all for supporting this community over the years. I truly appreciate everything that everyone has contributed. It's only going to get better!

Lastly as a thank you for bearing with this change, I will be taking out of my own pocket and buying about 10 or 20 gift certificates to randomly disperse to people who reserve their nicknames. (I havn't decided where yet, but I will let you know. ;)) "

Huzzah!

OK so most of us agree that it's sucked for the last few months, but I think it's finally starting to get better again.

Anyone else agree, or am I just imagining it?

Thought I'd post something here anyway, it's looking pretty quiet.

zenv2point0 I'm not posting at TS anymore.
I'm putting this here rather than there because I hate "I'm leaving" threads, and because I don't want the attention. I'd be happier if people on the whole didn't notice I was gone.
That being said, I figured a select few of you might care, and this way at least a few people know if anyone asks about me in the future.

This is probably stupid, I'll probably come back eventually, but as of right now I have absolutely no plans of it.

You know how to get ahold of me if you want to. Don't feel obligated. Bye.

Does anyone else feel as though TeenSpot is getting boring? I came back from a week or so 'holiday' yesterday and was expecting plenty of new interesting threads to read and reply to but I don't think I made one post. TeenSpot has gotten old and I don't feel the need to post there anymore. I'm not going to say I'm leaving though.
